Talking Parts Needed

Have any of you guys found any decent second hand parts dealers in the uk? My 97 Cherokee limited 2.5TD needs new Universal Joints quite badly. Don't know which will be cheaper...new UJ's and pay loads in labour/hassle or buy 2 second hand halfshafts and hubs, then just change my brakes etc over?? Also my handbrake adjuster under the car is badly rusted and can't be adjusted so need a new one / second hand one. If anyone has any ideas where I can get these please let me know. (The handbrake adjuster is more urgent as MOT due december!!)

Thanks all!

First of all, nice Jeep Andy - it's identical to mine! What colour is your interior??

As for parts - I think it'd probably be worth getting new UJs, as XJs seem to get through them quite quickly. I had mine done a while ago, and with a local mechanic I don't think the labour was too bad at all.

For other used parts, try jeepspares4u.co.uk
I called them yesterday to find a replacement front bumper corner, as someone (possibly me, I'm not sure!) has scraped one of mine. They found one in the right colour with no damage straight away, and are only charging me £35 including postage! They also seem to have a lot of XJs, so should have little trouble finding the parts!

Looks like you have no wheel arch flares, don't the boy's in blue give you a tug for that?

Personally like em with no flares, but I live is Southend on Sea, and I think the police would haunt me, (not a rural area).
May take off and try though, not like you get locked up for it.

I use Mansfield 4x4 for all my parts and they tend to be quite helpful, even when you don't really know what your doing.

We hail from Worcester in West Midlands. We picked up our 2005 ('55) Grand Cherokee on Wednesday and enjoying every minute driving it.
First time we have moved away from Toyota or Volvo. We have had about 14 -17 Toyotas over the past 30 years mainly in Africa. Recently sold my HiLux Surf to buy the Jeep mainly for towing.
If any one knows of any reputable non franchise Jeep specialists near us I would be grateful for the info.
Not really into mods but want to fit BFGs in the near future as I had them on the Surf and they were really good!

Hi Surfer, welcome 30 years in Africa, so I guess you had no choice but go off road most of the time?
Surely any competent mechanic with a good reputation in your area could work on your zj, unless maybe for warranty purposes.
