You See A Deserted Dirt Road... Take A Detour?
When you guys see a nice deserted dirt road with potential, do you take a detour or do you hop right on it?
I like to hop right on it. This particular one stretched for about 2-4 miles.
I didn't want to tear it up too bad, so I was light on it. Most of the marks you'll see were there before me. But the road wasn't off limits, basically one of those enter at your own risk signs.
Since the nearest trail location is over an hour away from me, I decided to hit it up and get some nice pictures
If you have any casual dirt road wheeling, feel free to share.

This thread title made me think of those old Zork games.
Can't wait to get back to Florida. Always a random place to wheel (mostly light duty if legal trails). But Maryland has nearly NOTHING for wheeling.
I will say, because I know many in Maryland are desperate for off-roading, the shoulder shots show of desperation for true off-roading. Have to google "Hudson", not familiar with that area. Did two stints in s. Florida in 2001/02 and again in 2004/05. There were so many fun (and legal, if I remember right) trails. I didn't have a Jeep then, just a Chevy Xtreme (mostly a street truck & 2wd) but still loved to get it off pavement.
With following storms from the central US all the way back and throughout the eastern seaboard, I get my fill of trails and detours. I don't seek them out...they just seem to be a required path all the time (especially in the central US).

That said... yes, if there's a, er, "less travelled" road, I'll venture down it just to see how it is. That's actually how I ended up coming across all these Pine Barrens trails: just looking for a dirt road to test my four wheel drive on, what I turned on eventually became little more than a footpath through the woods.

I think the fact that it was truly abandoned and i was doing 40+ mph down it may have played a factor. I should get a picture of the spot it happened in, it's a huge pothole i never saw. I swear the jeep got air!
