What like to know what you guys think of this:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/1999-Jeep-C...orig_cvip=true
When you click on the link click on view original item in box at the top that says listing has ended.
There is a VIN listed in the posting.
A friend emailed me the link to this while the auction was still in progress.
I know a couple things more about this but want people to give their opinions first.

I would never, ever, buy any vehicle on Ebay, unless it was local and I could see it in person before hand.

Heh. I did that once. Why, yes, I did get burned! How did you know?
Buying sight unseen is just stupid. Yes, I was stupid.
But I'm guessing there is something wrong here that I'm not picking up on because I don't know my Cherokee history very well.

I just sold one as nice imo for 4500 a month ago .... they have another one listed and in it you can see their shop and that it’s quite obviously a dealer set up . I’ve bought several vehicles on eBay without an issue but it’s not everyone you have to know what to look out for .

But somehow if I enter the vin into the vin decoder it comes up as a 99. Maybe the list I found was incorrect?

So I got curious and checked my 99. The 5th digit is also and F. Manufacture date is 5/99. Also checked the 3 98’s and they’re all J’s. That website must be incorrect then.

Sorry to keep posting but now this is bothering me. I found several other sites that also state that an F as the fifth digit signifies LHD 2000 or 2001. Also looked at the vin’s of some 99’s for sale. All of them had F’s. Maybe that’s not the discrepancy you were pointing out but just thought it was worth mentioning.

It is listed as a 1999 Jeep Cherokee Police Package. Also says "Highly Sought After AHBP Police Package".
I am looking at the pictures. Here is what I see. A carpet and a power driver's seat.
Now I could be wrong but I am under the impression that Police XJ's have the rubber floor. No mention of changing it.
Also no mention of skids, tranny cooler, tow hooks, etc.
It does have a 120MPH speedometer and an Ext Idle Switch though.
All this does not mean anything though. What I think I know is just info I have read on the internet. No idea of what is true or not.
Running the VIN brings shows this for a Build Sheet.
https://www.jeep.com/webselfservice/...FF68S5XL563257
Now I wonder about the accuracy of these Build Sheets.
Also I was wondering if anybody would notice the word PRO on the door.
Here is how stupid I am. Took me an hour and just happened to by outside glancing at my XJ before I realized that they
made the word PRO out of the word SPORT.
So I mention all this to my buddy and he actually he emails the guy to find out.
He gets a response. First thing the guy says is that those Build Sheets are wrong 75% of the time.
Point taken. But it does say Budget Fleet Vehicle at the bottom of the Build Sheet. Not to mention a 100MPH speedometer and I don't see an Ext Idle Switch.
Also says he got it from the detective it was assigned too in '99 who bought it from the county he worked for.
Says he has the plastic back seat and cage. All supporting a Police Vehicle story.
But back to the listing. It says it was never used for Police use.
So assigned to a detective in '99 who bought it from the county?
I had more info then I originally posted when I started the thread. I was attempting to try and not influence anybodies opinion by keeping it vague.
I was curious if anybody saw what I saw.
It is just people are going to pay top dollar for this. I see what the seller claims but IMO to many red flags making wonder how true his statements are.
Also the XJ was relisted cause apparently the first bidder could not secure financing.
I would be lying if I said that does not make me wonder too.
