Is there any good 2000lb winches that are not too expensive?

Well I wanted to get one for a friend as a present but nothing big just light pulling. He doesnt go off road much and just wants one for just in case

I wouldn't use anything under a 6k winch for recovery

To pull out a ATV :innocent: |
Tractor Supply has had some 2,000 and 3,000 lbs. winches on sale lately. The 2,000 was going for $49.99 I think and the 3,000 was $99.99.

I run the HF 6000 with no problems, use it a lot for pulling stuck friends trucks
|
I looked at the Harbor Freight website and they have them for $79.99, you can get the 12,000 lb for $299.99.....I'm not pro HF for most stuff, but that is a steal.

the harbor freight (or badlands winches) are nothing to drool over or over tempt buying. I have been running them for a few years now.. started out with an 8k lb winch and it lasted a little over a year (we'll put this as using atleast 2 times a month for a 4200 lb vehicle pretty well stuck.) then the case started to separate from the spool, had it warrantied and they bumped me to a 9k (discontinued the 8k). ive had my 9k for a little over a year now and it still serves well but if i were to go back... i would've bought an rc8 winch... damn near the same price and they are much better all around.
Attachment 164629 should be common knowledge but when buying a winch shoot for double your vehicles weight. you can also run a snatch block to take the strain off your winch. (PLZ research propper snatch block techiniques) dont waste your money on some cheap-o 2k lb winch cuz you'll only burn it up and want to save your money for a better one eventually. |
OP, if this winch is for use on anything other than an ATV don't buy anything smaller than a 6000 lb rated winch with at least 80 ft. of cable.
Also cheap sometimes costs more than quality in the long run, if you buy a winch that lets you down when it is really needed it isn't worth much. Just my opinion, but you know what they say about opinions. |
