Default Why you need oil

This is a pic of the block of my old ZJ that my cousin has now. It had a lifter tic and rear main leak like a lot of 4.0L and he thought if he put thicker oil in it it would fix it. He ended up putting gear oil in it and the tic went away and he forgot about the leak. Well bang and here we are. That is the crank you can see and the oil pan is swiss cheese. Lucky for him, and me, I have a spare motor sitting around and he'll be back on the trail in a week or two.

Not as bad as the Honda kid who put NOS energy drink in his car.

Good thing you've got another motor.

My buddy lost oil pressure coming across the state, after about 50 miles, same thing. 3 days later the XJ had a fresh motor with less miles.

Have fun!

Nah, he's a master tech, and happened to have 2 4.0L in his garage.

The highway where it happened is Alligator Alley, basically 100 miles, 2 lane highway through the everglades without a thing around. Had no choice, knew it was gonna go, figured the best idea was to keep the towing bill down by going as far as possible

Oh yeah, geez, don't want to break down out there.

I remember driving down it as a kid. Lots and lots and lots of absolutely nothing. My uncle used to work for the Fort Myers fire department (and my cousin was a cop), they used to say people would dump bodies and stolen cars out there right off the highway and no one would find them for months or more.

I tend to check mine pretty often. No real reason. It does leak a little but I guess I am paranoid that the oil will get up and run off in the middle of the night or something. lol

oh and NOS energy drink?!?! SERIOUSLY??

Yep. It was some squid on gixxer.com. Bike wasn't running well so he stopped at a gas station, grabbed a bottle of NOS out of the fridge and dumped it in the tank. Couldn't figure out why that screwed it up.

Maybe he was dumb enough to believe that they actually sold real NOS in single servings in the refrigerated section of the gas station?
