where is the fuel filter on my xj
I have a 97 and my fuel filter is bad I guess because it will shut off randomly like it's not getting any gas so I'm gonna go ahead and change it any help

ya its a pain in the ***** helped a buddy do it the other day luckly all my jeeps are older so there just under right next to the tank all tucked up

This pisses me off because I'm not totally sure it's the fuel filter.
I'll be driving and it will die randomly but it will start back up after I park it or when I'm at a stop light it dies but again starts back up and drives for a ways

Yea you got the **** end of the stick with the newer style fuel filters. The old xjs had inline filters right inside the unibody...easy to get to

That sounds more like a sensor to me. It doesn't take much to check the sensors OttawaXJ listed. A lot less time than dropping the tank. I just wouldn't want to do all that and realizing it was something else. Good luck! Let us know what it was.
