Where is a fairly cheap place to have tires mounted?

Do it in your driveway.
A farm jack or bumper jack,
remove the valve cores and start jacking a up with the jack placed at the edge of the tire against the wheel.
Get lots of pressure and if doesn't give, use a sledge hammer and smack the tire, if it still doesn't move, rotate the tire 30 to 40 degrees and repeat till it breaks down.
Now work the tire off the rim with tire tools.
When you get fed up with that, go buy a tire machine. lol. I have two in the shop now.
Seriously I've changed a many tires by hand in the past.

....or maybe start calling the local tire shops and comparing prices? How are any of us supposed to give you an answer to your question....none of us know where you live, and even if we did, do we have a crystal ball that gives us your local tire shops prices? Just sayin'...

Guys, calm down.
Ian, that shop next to the McDonald's has pretty fair prices, and they have free coffee and soda in the waiting room.

if your local high school has an auto shop you can sometimes go to them and offer a couple bucks and they might for "practice" we use to do them where I went mount and balance for 10 a tire.
