Where can I get a 4.56 kit?
 

Wanna re-gear to 4.56 in my diffs. Where and what do I need to buy to do this?

Probably need the entire center section for both. Lockers and two gear sets, plus installation. Easy couple of grand.

Yep, easily. Installation generally runs $500-$600 per axle, depending on where you're located. And gear installation is NOT where a person wants to skimp when it comes to money!! :D

I expected it to be high so I'm looking around $1200 - $1500 to get it done? Is there any other way I can run 35's? I don't think so right? Personally I'd rather get it re-geared but money is a factor for a long while and while the gas mileage is this bad without the gears its not helping me get the money any faster haha.

Go on craigslist, i know that here you can buy already geard axles off of there for around $200-$600 depending on the axle. I recently saw a Dana 44 with locker and geard to 4.10 for $300.

Unfortunately I live on Long Island. What's worse, Ronkonkoma. Its hard enough out here to get a wheeling group together, and heavy duty DIY is something alot of people just don't do out here in 631.

I'd love to do it, but I don't have the know how and normally I would tear it apart break it and just say screw it and over the course of a month or 2 I would have it done in the driveway. Problem is my truck doesn't let me trial and error as its my DD. =' (

I'd say if you budget around $1600, you should be able to get the carriers, the gears (front and rear), and installation done by a reputable shop. Don't attempt this mod by yourself. I'm relatively mechanically inclined, but I wouldn't even attempt this mod. You need the proper tools and the proper training to do something like this. Good luck!

As for Craigslist, some areas in the country are better than others when it comes to Jeep parts. Kansas has enough Jeepers (believe it or not) that finding Jeep parts is pretty tough......they get snatched up too quickly.

-EDIT- What rearend do you have? Are you wanting to run 35" tires on a D35? I would definitely think about upgrading that rearend rather than regearing it. If you've got a D44, then you're good with 35s.

Running 35" tires with a Turdy5 is a great combination to start snapping axles.

i did my 4.56 for round 550 or 600 but i installed myself. gears really aint that hard to do. they can take some time if you dont get lucky the first shot but there aint much to it. i would have liked 4.88 better tho

I agree, gears are not hard to do, you just need the proper tools. Setting up gears can be a tedious and aggrevating job though.

And yeah, they arent too hard to install yourself, I just did mine and it took about a week but I fared alright.
