What's this lifted Cherokee worth? Should I buy? Help a newbie out
Jeep people:
I need some advice and I thought that the best place to seek it would be a Jeep forum, so here I am.
Anyway, here's my sitch: I'm in the 4runner (is that a 4 letter word around here?) and Jeep market, and my boss just hooked me up with his friend who's selling a Jeep, looks like a decent deal but I want to know what you Jeep aficionados think of his asking price, due to the high mileage.
Is this a good deal? Is this a GREAT deal? Or is it not such a good deal?
Thanks a bunch.
Stats:
- Original owner
- 198,500 mi
- 3" lift
- 31" T/A's
- New tie rods
- New radiator, disconnects, slider windows
- Always garaged, well maintained.
Asking Price: $5000 (down from $6000)
Here's a pic of it:

I would pay like 3 for it. Lifting a vehicle ruins resale value. My gf's brother sold his red 98 classic w/ 6.5rc, flat bw's, 33's, front winch bumper prerunner bars w/ 3 kc lights, performance chip, vent light swiches minor rust for 6k

what year is the XJ? that will play a part in its value. even if its the highest possible year for that body style (96) i would only pay like 3000 - 3500 for it, assuming its as taken care of as it looks.

wow cuttin you a deal there eh? that guys ripping you off big time. aftermarket upgrades don't add value. just look up KBB price of a stock jeep in good condition in your area. that's how much it's worth before he put all those upgrades on it. now it's worth less

No. Terrible deal. 200k? I know that Jeep will run well and for a long time and maybe where you live the prices are different but around here its worthless. Have you looked around. Keep in mind that a basic 3in lift and 31s will cost you maybe a $1000, so why not just get an XJ with 200k for $1500 elsewhere and lift it yourself?

If this is in a metro area that requires emissions and safety inspection, it isn't far off. If everything works, it is very clean, comes with service records...isn't Florida, it may be the price you have to pay. Around here in DC, it is about right. You could could workmit down some being summer and depending on what is on the market. Market demand is everything.
Of course if you want a newer one, I will sell you my 2000 Cherokee with 142,000 and it will have everything fixed, 100%, pass Maryland's strict inspection and I may even drive it all the way to you, for the $5,000.

I dont know where you are located, but here is what I cll a great deal. There is actually a section on here in the general chat for funny/good listings on craigslist and ebay. You should subscribe to it. Its like half the forum doing research for you. Thats how I found this one.
