The mechanic thing wasnt that big an issue to me but it was just really a "are you serious" thing in my mind that he wants to sell something but is making no time to do so at all, nor really even try to communicate with me.

I understand what you guys are saying about it not being 100% but still.... Maybe it's just the salesman in me.
Yeah I understand not liking to be dicked around. Definitely would make me want to walk away. Just don't miss out on a good jeep because of it.

Sweet, man. Just look over the basics. Does it run good and shift out smoothly? Maintain correct temp? Condition of fluids? Brakes? Rust? All basic stuff. Just remember these things are super easy to work on, so most issues are minor. Good luck and send us pics when you come home with your XJ!

visually check and put your hand on the steering components and check them. i'd also look for rust issues and possible cracks in the frame. look for dry rotted hoses and leaks in the engine compartment. leaks around valve cover or any gaskets. including diffs. visually inspect rotors for gouges or fins lol.

sry im a stickler when it comes to buying a vehicle. people hate me for that. lol. i'll spend 15 mins underneath one. the guy i bought my xj from had a book of every recite and oil change and anything he did to the xj wrote down and dated and the mileage wrote down beside it. sold me on it. i continued the book. had to get a new one though.

lol awesome, luckily im in Tx. so the rust should be an issue for the most part. I'll be sure to do my best checking it out, luckily the price he is giving me should leave me about another grand to do repairs.... if all goes well a full seafoam treatment/fluids change should be all i need, I did find a nice set of ravine wheels with stock tire that have about 40k on them for 500... might be able to hold me over till i get some new tires.
