What would cause this?

What would cause this?
I pulled the headliner out today and noticed the roof isn't touching the roof supports... what would cause this? I'm trying to figure out what is tweaked. Or maybe someone over loaded the roof, bent the supports down and the roof popped back up?

That does not look right to me. Maybe older Jeeps are set up that way though. Here is a shot of my '00.
