Low pinion Dana 30 in the front. Either a c8.25 or Dana 35 in the rear. XJ's with ABS have 35s and non-ABS have 8.25s.

A Dana 35 rear axle have the diameter of 2.75 inches on the axle tube. The Chrysler 8.25 axle is 3" in diameter on the axle tube.
Hope that helps too. |

OP, look up under the back. Ignore the pics of the covers, because they're confusing. Instead, look to see if there's a flat area on the bottom of the pumpkin. If it's flat like this, it's a Chrysler 8.25: https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...2dddccdc81.jpg If the bottom is rounded off like this, it's a Dana 35: https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...b1a0230ef2.jpg As was noted above, the front axle will be a low pinion Dana 30. Be aware you can also retrieve your build sheet from the Jeep website that will tell you what equipment your XJ came with. |

?? I've heard this before but took what seemed to be almost an hour and didn't find anything on my jeeps.. If you could give a link or directions (like if you HAVE TO REGISTER and give all your info just to ask) that would greatly help. Thanks. Errol |

If you could give a link or directions (like if you HAVE TO REGISTER and give all your info just to ask) that would greatly help. http://www.jeep.com/webselfservice/jeep/index.html Once there, click on "Equipment Listing" in the menu on the left side of the page. If you have a Jeep that was made in 1998 or later, you can simply put your VIN in the box, and it will give you your build sheet immediately. If you have a Jeep that was made in 1997 or earlier, the system may or may not give you a build sheet. Apparently some people have gotten build sheets through the self service app despite the fact that it states on the page that pre-1998 vehicles are not eligible for the service. So try it anyway. If it doesn't work, you can still get a build sheet by emailing Jeep customer service and requesting it. There's an "Email" link directly below the VIN app. Click it and fill in the relevant information in the form, and be sure to include your entire VIN in the message body. You'll get your build sheet via email in a day or two. |
