dont waste your money. that will hardly make a difference. if your motor has to work harder to maintain speed you could actually lose mpg.

Motor would be constantly down shifting every time you came to a hill, even small ones and take off would suffer. You'd prolly end up burning more gas since it'd be shifting out of OD all the time.

Mustang v6s have 2.73s and weigh the same and have the same power ? I guess you are probably right, but there are no hills here...

powerbands are different. transmission gearing is different too. you want to hold rpms at peak torque for best mpgs. figure out peak torque of the 4.0 and what mph you spend most at. from there, with a little math, you can find what gear ratio would be theoretically best.

Your motor and tranny are tuned for 3.55s and stock tires like the rustang is for 2.73s. Factory knows what they're doing and have to meet govt standards. Going with higher gears would be like putting bigger tires on stock geared axles. You loose power and mpgs unless you live where it's completely flat and you can do really slow take offs.

I would say that it's a waste of time and you'll loose mpg. A mustang is also not as aerodynamic as our sleek Cherokees.

taking off slow is not always best. i used to drive slow and maintain speed as best i could. i figured the heep is never gonna get good mileage so now i drive normal and still maintain speed and get 1.5 mpgs better.

our ideal rpms is like 2100-2600... So 3.55 is good for stock tires.

It's completely flat here in Oklahoma haha... I hate having to hit 43 mph to get overdrive when the speed limits I go through are 35-40.... If I was going 50-75 wouldn't I be at lower rpm and get better mpg? My commute right now is 90/10 city/highway but that's about to be the other way around.

I don't go past 2250 rpm typically... If I am I might as well floor it and hear the awesome sound of the 4.0 with flow masters

You will get better mpg highway and worse mpg city. So if you ONLY drive highway and never drive city, than yeah, go ahead and do it.
