those cheap winches are hit or miss. ive had good luck with mine but a buddy had solenoid issues when he first got his xrc8. his has since been completely submerged in saltwater and was still working and still works to this day. next time im gonna spend the extra coin on a ramsey or warn since i will be relying on it more has the obstacles become more difficult.

Looks like the JCR bumper and yeah, synth line. I did some searching too and there seems to be a group of people who are older, and tout Warn like they're being paid to. Warn is the ONLY option to them, then there's a bunch of other people with winches like the XRC8 (same one I'm considering) who've had no issues with multiple years usage...

take a look at this. This test dispelled a lot of bad information on cheaper winches. I would say if you are going to put yourself in life or death pull situations then by all means, money is no object and you should by a WARN. If you are going to use it to pull a buddy out of a mud pit or like most of us, to pull up a pesky stump or bush in the yard... read this article..

GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight) for your Cherokee should be around 4K (3,479 by sticker). You should try to keep it around twice vehicle weight ( 8K) as a rule of thumb
