What to do with the old and new

Hey guys, I’m grabbing a nice new xj. My 99 has reached retirement. daily driven 340k now. Still driving it, but it’s basicalky junk up here in the salt belt. it has a 5” lift long arms and all the goods, and still actually drives and handles well.

the new one is very clean with a very beginner lift. Stock control arms, 2.5” spacers up front. had a 1.5 aal and shackles out back. owner didn’t understand and put new leafs in. 3.5” full pack. Which puts his rear up there the same as my 5” lift....

so, given that my old one as is is worth about 600$ tops private sale, would u take the front suspension out of the old and put it in the new and just scrap the old one? I feel like I’ve had long arms and prolly won’t be able to live without them and a double shear track bar, removable cross member etc ect. so a new long arm kit will cost more than what I can get for the old one I think...
whats you guy’s thoughts on it. The long arms and such is still in very good shape.

I'd strip all good or even half decent parts off of your current rig and swap over what you need then store the rest for a rainy day

(however I'm biased as I just bought an XJ for the sole purpose of stripping it of all value)

I would strip the old parts from old and check , rebuild were needed repaint and install in new jeep. always good when you can save a few bucks!

Yea I think I’m going to go that route. I just thought about the fact that I will also be able to stuff my almost brand new 33’s under it again and sell the 31” duratracs on American racing wheels too. So I could get some value there. I also can sell the axles and rear leafs etc... out of all the stuff I won’t use I can sell for about the value of what I would get private sale, and still have the long arms and stuff on the new 1. A lot of work but worth it.

Agreed a lot of work but you get to pick and choose what you want to keep/let go. In the end you can also scrap the shell of your older worn out XJ for possible cash after you've sold off some other stuff to recoup come cost

I would swap parts back and forth keeping them both running and driving

That sounds like a lot of work...
