It depends. You gotta look at what it is, an 87 2WD. Whats the most you could hope to get for it? $800-$1,000 if you managed to get it roadworthy?

$250 purchase.
Min. $350-$400 for tires.
Best case, a bunch of scrubbing/cleaning.

So you're at least $600 in, $200-$400 profit IF it doesnt require any repairs(LOL).

Its a skinny margin, but if it drives decent, its possible.

If it's got a dana 44 under the rear I'd buy it and sell the axle out of it

So SatiricalHen pointed out that he thought a 194 was what the third brake light used. So I had the amber 194 LED's lying around that I can't use so I figured I would give it a try to see what's what. Worked and fit fine. So while I don't believe that there is anything really wrong with putting the white ones that DonP sent me in the interest of being thorough I bought this:

https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/...dbp/11349222-P

So the only thing that is left is the license plate bulb. And SatiricalHen was right about it being a tight fit and a 194 working in there too. Cause I believe it to be a 168 there but if you look at the packaging at the link above it also says 168. The Zevo 194 looks tight. Either it is right up against the plastic or like a sheet of paper away from it. The Zevo 194's are longer then the regular 194. So I don't know if you could use a Zevo bulb, 194 or 168, in there. Not sure how hot LED's get and would hate to get a burn mark in the lens or maybe possible crack in colder weather from being to close. The reason that I am trying to use the Slyvanias is that they can be sourced locally. If you ever need one quick. The non polarity 194's I had to use in the front side markers kind of screwed up that idea.

Default So far today, midday report,,,

Finally got around to installing my homemade hood lift strut kit !!! Works great ! Pull the hood up about halfway, (which is even easier with the struts), then let go, and she floats up all the way, stops just before full extension, then goes up all the way ! Got the right angle on the hood when opened too ! I'm only 5'9" and had to tippy toe and stretch to pull the hood down, not to mention, walking around to the prop rod !!! Kits are $$$ ,,, not anymore !!! I did this upgrade for under $30 !!! 😎 Ahhh, the POWER OF EBAY !!! I tried to upload a video, but mine's in the wrong format ? Here's some pics !!! Gonna do a full detailed install guide in the modified XJ forum !!!

Got large amounts of body damage. Both passenger doors, both driver doors, and the hatch a little.

WTF happened?

Me, found out the hard way my TC linkage needs adjusting, lol. After getting her good and thoroughly stuck.

Went though one slophole, felt sketchier than i expected. So instead of continuing along that path, we opted to head up the slope and run along the top on somewhat drier ground.

Whelp... what looked like solid ground turned out to be soup. She immediately dug in and stopped. 1st/reverse, lots of rocking and she wasnt gaining ground. Lots of digging, rocks and branches... no dice. Then my son comes up to the window. "Dad, back wheels are spinning but the fronts aren't"

****. Wiggled the TC shifter down almost to the neutral position and heard that glorious "gnnk" as 4H engaged. Lol, she immediately grabbed and clawed her way out of that mess.

Lol, free at last.

Was at the car wash a good hour de-glopping her. The attendant was not happy.

Was doing good all day yesterday then I was trying to get up to the house at night and there were a lot of people on the trail I wanted to go up so I decided to go down a trail I'd never been down before because it looked like it would go the right place and the rut was a lot deeper than I thought (hit just under the handle on the back door) and that was the passenger side and the back door wont open from the outside anymore. Got the hatch on a trail I've done at least 10 times. Thought I would clear, but the rock was covered in dew and I had 5 people in it. Then I got the driver side doors under the bottom body line in another rut I didn't think the root was as close as it was.
