Good progress, Stryker. Looks like it's starting to come together. The front should go pretty smooth, you've got the grunt work out of the way. Good luck!

Yeah, I'm OK. I have had more damage with less drama, though. (rubbed a tree on the way down a hill, since the nice dry dirt turned to slick wet clay about 1/3 of the way down as you go around a curve [stupid ruts]). As for pix. prob. not for awhile, since I traded my 10 Megapixel Digicam for another MJ Friday evening. Oh, and my XJ is leaking fuel somewhere around the tail now. I really need to find that before it becomes problem.

Said blah and chopped the fenders. Probably be a little bit before it really serves a function but I like the look once its all cleaned up so said wth and went for it.
On the back I did the cut and fold method using a jig saw. Worked out pretty well. Gotta clean it up some and protekto it. Cut the front as a whole piece, did bend some blades. Again needs a little cleaning up and some proteckto.

Changed the oil/filter, topped off the PS, brake and coolant fluids, cleaned the K&N, intake, and throttle body, and installed a Helix Power Tower TB spacer. Also covered some spots where the undercoating had cracked and started to peel.
Review on the TB spacer - got a little more pickup at take off, and seems to run smoother overall. Drove it to the next town to have dinner with a friend, and noticed a big gain on the interstate at highway speeds. More responsive and less downshifting. Gonna order a 4.0 TB in the next couple weeks and see how much more I can squeeze out of my 4-banger.

Ouch. I'm sure if I had a 4.0 my driving habits would be different, but I've accepted the fact that the 2.5 just wasn't made for runnin' and gunnin'. It just... goes, and I leave it at that.

Took mine out yesterday and wheeled it. ( oh yeah, tried not to laugh at the kids that brought out their dad's new Rubi 4dr. It was their first dirt run, so it was a little bit fun to watch a newbe gettin' it. )

Yeah. Actually, it made me stop and remember the good times that I had when the wheelin' thing was new and putting the x-case in gear was a "high". Time to get another wheelin' ride ( something different, so that I actually have to pay attention to what it is doing/ telling me .
