Today I spent most of the day waiting to see the DR so I could get on some much needed antibiotics. Damn snowbirds come from up North and bring all their sickness, and I deal with the public every day so I always get it every year about this time.
After that was done, I received and installed some hood spacers and a proper 1" TC drop kit. No driveline vibes, just some contact from the Y pipe on the crossmember and now it's gone. I know some of you will clown me for the hood spacers but I can't think of a cheaper and more returnable way to alleviate the heat soak, which is making my idle run high as soon as it gets to 210. I kinda like the look as well...for now. If this doesn't help enough I may invest in some DEI heat shields for the fuel rail and injectors but we'll see...

They came black powder coat with the kit , I sanded them and used 2X rustoleum cherry red then a lite coat of 2 X clear , I done the rear springs too. The rears were not powder coated they looked more like a heavy duty primer.
Shade treeing
Heard an ugly rattling sound from inside the Jeep yesterday. Get to work, and can not tell if it is the belt pully tensioner or power steering pully. I drive it home to all but find ball bearings falling out the bottom of the tensioner pully when I touch it. I say great I have a spare. I go to get the box and find out the one I have is considerably smaller. Off to the chain parts store where the kid tries to give me the same smaller pully only this one has groves. After 20 minutes we go through the computer to find good old Diamler used three different variations. Leave with the correct one. Now a mosoon starts and I can not finish the swap last night, on top of the spacer that goes on the back is missing. (Most of fell down into the engine when I pulled the bolt.) Get up at 6AM today, and still can not find the spacer. Two plus hours later I finish a 20 minute job. Enough work for today.
Had my starter stick and not shut off even with the key out. Quickly popping the hood, I got the cover off the relay/fuse box and just nudging the relay trying to pull the starter relay, it stopped. I remembered that I had swapped relays a few days earlier in trying to diagnose what was a bad starter and didn't swap them back. I think I should get some new ones at any rate. Might look into an ignition switch as well.

I feel ya. Went through a similar situation, 5 days off the road. It's even better when peeps suggest I buy "a little car, for backup" and ask why I bought an old ratty Jeep.
Because I love them, I say. Ha

Got the harmonic balancer from the 98 installed on the 99 and a new belt.
Changed the rear differential fluid.
Purchased a wheel hub assembly for the right front wheel, spark plug gapper, Lucas gear oil for the front, and a gear oil tube attachment.

Sent it in for an inspection and it passed. Celebrated it by having them tint the windows
