Removed a steering gearbox, broke a pitman arm puller, pulled a pitman arm, road-killed a rebuiild for previously mentioned gearbox, shot power steering fluid onto the rafters in my garage, took a test drive or two... Long story short did a whole lot of monkey motion to fix a small leak from my steering gear. BUT if I need to rebuiild a steering gear I know how to now!
Finally got the oil pan dropped today. Looks yet another 0331 failure, even though both oil on dipstick and cooling system both appeared normal.
And a unusal thing thing too, do all the 4.0's have a main cap girdle? All the engines I've been looking at only shows it on a stroker engine.

I want to do something like this. Do you have any part numbers for anything you used. Not seeing the cable that would be attached to the battery for power to run the box? Still trying to figure out the best way to do this.
I will put some links in here later but I am going with a power distribution block that has a lug for the battery cable and 12 contacts.
That would be great. I want to try to clean up in my engine compartment. As part of my alternator and battery cable upgrade I want to put in an aux fuse box. Was thinking about extending the wires a little, or possible rewiring the headlight harness that we get from jhc7399. Instead of the inline fuse to the battery to power the harness have it come from the aux fuse box. Get rid of the fuse tap I am using for my fog lights and the one I would use for my EXT IDLE switch for a 12V runs source, etc. Be nice to have relays powered from a central location from the battery instead of wires coming from it with inline fuses. Also thinking of throwing a circuit breaker in between the battery and the aux fuse box. Plus figure try to work in some room grow.
Had to buy new Goodyear Wrangler tires for the rear... the Vintage 2000 tires FINALLY deteriorated. Never seen a tire last that long before... New Napa battery and cables. Found out my Blower motor resistor is on its way out, AND, did a 5 hr coolant flush.... And a wash and wax...In the cold.
Installed my lift over the weekend. I am pretty mechanically inclined but this was first for me to tackle something this large. I went with a Rubicon Express 3.5" Super Ride. My old leafs were sagging something horrid, I had about 2 inches of travel. I would bottom out on the smallest of pot holes, so this was a much needed project. I did lots of research before hand so I knew what I would be getting into. All in all, it was not terribly difficult. Just time consuming.
I was fortunate that the front spring bolts came out without too much effort. I sprayed all the bolts for about 2 weeks with Kroil. Heated them up pretty good, hit them with the impact for a bit, heated some more, then went to town with a 4ft pry bar. Little by little, backing them out, turning them in, spraying more Kroil, till I got them loose. I did end up having to cut the eyelets out due to the sleeve frozen to the bolt. Split them in half, cut out the rubber bushing with a razor knife then split the collar at the seam with a chisel. Freedom!
For anyone looking to do this in the future, I highly recommend buying new bolts. Yes they are expensive at $7 a bolt, but in the end it was money well spent.
Now there are some driveline vibrations, but I knew this was a possibility. So for now I have ordered a TC drop kit to hold me over till I get an SYE installed.
This project certainly was an accomplishment and I learned quite a bit about the Jeep and my own abilities. But the biggest thing I learned was that I am not the young man I once was. I think every part of my body is sore. But now I no longer have to slow down for every bump in the road. WIN!
Soon as I get the new wheels and tires on I will share. Right now it looks kinda goofy with the stock wheels and tires. The Tactic steelies I ordered from Quadratrec are on backorder till mid Dec. I have the tires waiting ready to go. 31x10.5 Cooper Disoverer SST Pros
