Default Tranny Pan Leaks

Disassembled and reassembled using said shiny, grade 8.9 bolts and replaced the crappy Chinese gasket with a Fel Pro one and some black ATV just for good measure.

Side note, it's getting difficult to find these gaskets in central Florida. I had to special order an $8 gasket and I waited 3 days for it. I found a few online for $11, and I ordered them for next time.

Anyways, new gasket and hex bolts that aren't 21 years old solved the pan seal leak. Dry as a freaking bone. Jeep shifts like new. Solenoid replacement worked better than I ever expected.

Now to clean up the 2 gallons of Dex/Merc that has soaked, then baked into my driveway due to user error and two left feet...
Yeah, I got a feeling I'll be doing that real soon myself ! Rather than pull the pan twice, I'm going to just torque the pan to specs and wait till I get new solenoids, do it all at once. New gasket, filter and solenoids. Got to many irons in the fire at the moment . What year is your XJ ?

And you wont eat another tire!
Sway bar was removed after that and went in the scrap pile. The rear springs are good, it's just the difference from the taller front mounts I didn't like the backwards rake. And couldn't find a listing for a add a leaf to go with the 4 in springs.

It's a 98 Sport. Your situation should be identical I think. If you look on Amazon you'll find the set that I got, which includes all 3 solenoids, a screen and a (crappy Chinese) gasket for $80 or $90, I can't remember. For reference, the local big box auto parts store here wants over $200 PER SOLENOID. It was a no brainer and they work great. Get the Fel Pro gasket "TOS 18685". You'll thank me later.

I love tinted glass, gotta have it here in S Texas. But i really do hate tinting glass. Its frustrating, time consuming... And my god the smell when you're peeling off the old factory tint? That is special.

Got the hatch area done, thats enough fun for one day.

And took her on her first highway run. Damn thing drives like a dream! No shimmies shakes or wobbles, just smooth as silk.

And, not mine... and not a Cherokee, lol, but got the bumper and winch set up on the now-running MJ.

Couldn't bring myself to chop the fenders & flares on a 1-owner '86 MJ, so i carefully notched out the bottom of the bumper to clear everything.

The owner was very appreciative, as he had no idea that wouldve been part of the install process.

I already have the fluid, Fel Pro gasket and Wix filter. I was looking at them on ebay. A lot cheaper ! Starting at around $39.** for all three. But I wondered about the quality ? What brand are yours ?

I'm actually glad you found a better deal, but just out of curiosity, how much would it cost for you to get it in 2 days?

Probably more. But I order nearly all of my parts in advance on line,,, EBAY baby !!! Saves me a ton !!! I have a list in my head. I watch and shop every night for deals !!! I just got two sets of Spicer ball joints, NIB, $60 shipped !!! That's more than .50 cents on the dollar !!! I plan all of my projects in advance. Right now, I'm watching for parts for my lift and exhaust system. Rome wasn't built in day.
