More stuff in the mail !
Didn't do much today. Just installed my new vanity plate in the rear, "XJ 99", then removed the original dealership decal. Install another plate up front, "JEEP" with dog paws in place of the "Es". Then I removed the old Jeep decals just in front of the hood. They were rough looking anyways. So I was just farrtin' round waiting for the mail. It never came till late in the day, but did bring what I was waiting for, the replacement "C" clamp that I need to finish my ball joints install. Tomorrow should be a hoot ! Been looking forward to putting it back together!

Finally moved the YJ into the garage for the first time since moving here. Now that the J10 is gone, I can work on her inside!
I'll be installing Hyline hood vents and replacing my water pump tomorrow or whenever I get around to it

So as some of you know I have been scoffing factory options that my Jeep did not come with. Got my hands on a Infinity Amp awhile ago and more recently some Infinity Speakers. I had line on the harness for the Infinity System but that fell through. The harness runs throughout the Jeep and has the door lock wiring as part of it. Best I can tell anyway. Seem like a lot of trouble but at some point in time I want to gut the Jeep to finish sound deadening. All that is left is the floor. So I figured if I did have one that would be the time to attempt installing the harness.
Before you guys start be aware of a couple things. With the exception of some plug and play stereos I installed in cars in the '70's and '80's that is the extent of my car stereo knowledge. Also the last thing I am is an audiophile. People say the Infinity System is so so at best. And I believe them. Thing is this is all in an effort to keep my Jeep Jeep.
So today I figured I would throw the speakers in and see what happens. The plugs are the same for both types of speakers. Started with the backs. Put one and them used the fader on the radio to see if I could discern any difference. By the way Infinity rear speakers are 2 ways. So the regular speaker sounded a little louder. Maybe. The Infinity speaker was less tinny and muddy sounding. If that makes any sense at all. So Installed them both. Went to do the fronts. By the way I can't really tell what the difference is between front stock speakers and Infinity ones. They are not 2 ways. Again installed one and used the fader to see if I could hear a difference. Stock was definitely louder. That is when I took a close look at the fronts. The paper in the Infinity speakers was deteriorating. Think that explains that. Oh well. I want to say with the Infinity speakers in the back and stock up front it sound a little better. Again maybe.
Well since I had the driver's door panel off there was a couple broken plastic things I wanted to glue. Been using this lately.

Been pretty happy with it. We sell it in the store and have this demo kit. Picture a wing nut attached to a round metal disc about 1" in diameter. Put 3 drops of glue on it, press it together for a bit, and then try to twist it apart. Not with your hands. Maybe if you used pliers. LOL.
I have this really dumb idea I want to run by you guys. It is about hooking up the Infinity Amp. I know just installing a new system would sound better. So I have some wiring diagrams. I also have a pig tail for the amp wiring and a pig tail for the back of the radio. My thinking is if I buy this:
https://www.crutchfield.com/p_120701817/Metra-70-1817-Receiver-Wiring-Harness.html?tp=2977&awkw=75735935185&awat=pla&awn w=s&awcr=48387221305&awdv=c&awug=9003419&gclid=EAI aIQobChMIxeKW36v53AIVC1qGCh2oXwL_EAQYBiABEgKZGPD_B wE
I can run the speaker output from the amp to the harness for the speakers to play. Using the pig tail I have that goes in the back of the radio I can run the speaker input to the amp. It also appears that the amp might get powered on when the radio is turned on. Been looking at some wiring diagrams but have not sorted everything out yet. Might have to ground the amp though. If not I figure I could just power the amp externally. Now I see when guys install these kick *** systems they use those mega fuse type fuses. Wondering if that is necessary for a cheesy Infinity amp. Thinking just an inline fuse will suffice. Anybody have any idea what size to run though?

After the new coil and shock mounts were done on the front, it sat nose high due to them being taller than factory. Got 2 in taper blocks installed, now it's sits back the way it before the front was done. Only problem never checked for clearance issues. Now a new tire has to be replaced as the rear sway bar ate it.

Huh. Not a big fan of lift blocks in general, but never actually thought about the sway bar interfering.
The rear sway bar really doesnt do much good anyhow. Pulling it will increase flexability and give you a smoother ride. Difference in road handling is barely noticable.
And you wont eat another tire!

The leaf springs are so flat the block lift is actually preventing the tires rubbing the wheel well...
Hopefully by next month I'll have saved up for some Crown HDs and will do the whole rear end: discs, springs, sway bar delete, block lift abomination delete.

Good Progress!
Didn't work for very long today , but got some done ! Installed a four ball joints. Both knuckles , axles , dust shields and wheel bearing hubs. Tomorrow should be a pretty good day too. Getting the front wrapped up in a day or so. Still have the ZJ tie rod upgrade and another short tie rod. New track bar bushing. Put my calipers back together and install them along with the rotors. Was going to change my tranny gasket and filter. But just decided to torque the pan to specs, fill the fluid and see if the solenoids are needed. Want to change the tranny fluid about 3 times to replace the old. Will take more pics as I go. Looking forward to getting to the rear end ! New axle bearings and seals , new Lokka lunchbox, and the ZJ disc brake swap !!!

Nice bumper Shipyard.
I ran steel 1" blocks, w/built in degree angles, for a long time without a problem. Although I wouldn't suggest going over 1" at all.
Took the 93 for a good test drive today. All 4 shocks are shot, majority of the bushings are shot. Suspension is mushy and has a little piston slap in cyl 2. I still have a RC 3" kit w/full leafs, I was going to give to my brother before he totaled his, that's gonna have to go under it.

Crawled up under it lookin for the cause of DW. The end at the pitman arm has some slack with a cracked boot. Thinkin of either doin the ZJ upgraded steerin or possibly goin with the Currie system ($$$$).

Finally fixed the leaking AT pan. I had to go to my local hardware store and get some M6-1.0 x 15mm bolts to replace the OEM ones as a number of them were so threadbare that they would not grab on at all. Disassembled and reassembled using said shiny, grade 8.9 bolts and replaced the crappy Chinese gasket with a Fel Pro one and some black ATV just for good measure.
Side note, it's getting difficult to find these gaskets in central Florida. I had to special order an $8 gasket and I waited 3 days for it. I found a few online for $11, and I ordered them for next time.
Anyways, new gasket and hex bolts that aren't 21 years old solved the pan seal leak. Dry as a freaking bone. Jeep shifts like new. Solenoid replacement worked better than I ever expected.
Now to clean up the 2 gallons of Dex/Merc that has soaked, then baked into my driveway due to user error and two left feet...

Beat it on the trails for my last day at windrock and made it back to camp. Did a total of 150 offroad miles since Thursday.
