replacing a temp sensor this weekend, cleaning out the IAC and the whole throttle body assembly while I'm in there.
Nothing major (hopefully) lol... just an issue that's been bugging the crap out of me for a couple weeks trying to pin down the issue..... I know.. I know.. welcome to the XJ. lol.

This really, really, really gets me going.

"In the United States, cigarette lighters started appearing as standard equipment in automobiles in 1925"

Nearly 100 years ago! We still use a massive and inefficient hole in the dash to plug in our electronics. It's like some car companies and electronics manufacturers forgot how out dated and genuinely useless they are.

Apple can change their charging port every year though....

*End of rant*
My 01 has the lighter and a power point. Strange thing if I plug my phone in the port, my stereo doesn't like it. If I use the USB in the aftermarket stereo, it charges fine with no interference with the stereo. So I use the power port for my GPS, and the USB to charge the phone. Samsung S7 Edge.

bought a full-size oem spare cover that matches Black Bertram's interior for a good deal

edit:
Also pulled the crank and pistons for the soon-to-be project Reclamation, for lack of a better name right now.
Rods are good, crank is pristine as are the bearings. pistons are all pretty much scrap. Gonna measure bores, check decks, and hopefully find someone to magnaflux the block and head.

Got towed to the garage by my wife. Turns out the coolant leak was a freeze plug which let go big time about half a mile from the destination.
Recovery Gear - even if it's just a decent tow strap - REALLY useful

Default Covered XJ in oil...

the clear coat was chipping so I covered it in oil and it has looked brand new ever since, it’s not oily since the rain has washed most of it off but it is still enough to keep water and sun off of clear coat and paint. This is all just tempoarary until I paint it. My friend recommended doing it and I thought he was crazy but it’s been a couple of months and I can see no problem with it. Dirt and mud don’t stick to it anymore so I don’t really have to clean it as much. Anyone wanna let me know if this is bad...

Replaced my front turn signals to LED

Then troubleshoot hyperflash and weirdness with the turn signal flasher for like an hour.

So I put the stock bulbs back in and went inside

It isn't illegal is it? I was under the impression it wasn't.

Took it to my muffler guy, he chopped just below the punch, used his tools, and re-welded it.

No, not at all. Most people don't have the means to do it themselves.

If anyone is interested, a TJ Wrangler downpipe is 2.5" all the way through, and it wraps around the front of the oil pan with higher clearance. I'm not sure which years it fits for XJs, but I have one in my YJ with a full 2.5" exhaust

Good lol, I was worried for a minute, it being exhaust-related and all. Yeah, I thought about getting a pipe expander, but the HF reviews were so bad I took it to a guy who could do it for not that much more than the two I'd inevitably buy.
