The dealer installed fog light kit included all the wiring from the battery to the switch and to the lights, along with a stand alone relay. It also included the switch and 3 space switch plate.
When I did mine that is what I discovered. The wiring was behind the blank in a non fog light switch bezel. Unfortunately you could not just punch out the blank and put in a fog light switch. Had to get the bezel from a Jeep that already had fog lights. When I plugged in the switch and turned on my headlights I noticed that the symbol became illuminated. Which was cool. I just had to hook up a 12V run source and a wire to the relay on that side. I new the kit existed at one time because I found it in my '00 parts catalog.

Can I post what you did on my thread for the fog light install? Since your Jeep does have terminals in that one relay spot means others might too. They could do it your way to hook a 12V run source for the factory switch. I assumed that if your '97 to '01 XJ did not come with fog lights then it would be like mine. As usual I was wrong. LOL. Promise to give you credit in the thread. LOL.
Sure, you can post it to you thread. I barely have time to work on the jeep, let alone document everything I do. I did notice that the jeep also appeared to have part of a harness for the fog lights (I'm guessing). If you look under the lower rad support (facing the engine) there was a harness that stops in the middle. If figure 4 above connected directly to the fog lights, then it looks like it would plug into that harness. Also it did not have a blue wire on the other end of the headlight harness though...weird because the original bumper was not cut out for fog lights either. Also my jeep did have a/c at one time, but i can tell it was removed by the previous owner.

Thanks. Figure if people have the terminals in that one slot like you can save a couple bucks on the fuse tap and wire needed. Pretty sure what you are seeing is the connector for the ambient temp sensor for the overhead console option. In the middle of a write up on putting a '99 overhead in my '00.

Thanks to my wire tracker I got at harbor freight. Now the light bar works independently without the key on. It was pretty simple...I placed a jumper in the fuse box and attached the trigger wire to the blue wire behind the drivers side headlight. I used the wiring harness that came with the light bar. It had one of those stupid stick on push button switches with 3 wires (I only used the red wire). I ended up cutting the yellow wire off of the relay since I'm not using that switch. I only had to run wires under the hood. Oh and I removed the cigarette lighter for an eBay usb plug. Now I just have to tidy up and secure the wires then I'm done for today.

Nice!!! Can I ask you what vehicle did you find that switch panel out of? That would solve where I could put my ARB locker switches and have my extra auxiliary power. Would that fit under the dash between the steering column and the console?

My 97 has that panel except the left USB port is a cigarette lighter. I'm thinking the USB port is aftermarket replacement for the cigarette lighter. As where it would fit other than the bottom of the center dash panel I'm not sure.

I just went to the local pick-n-pull JY and searched every Jeep Cherokee 97-01 until I found one that had 3 spots open. I did replace the cigarette lighter socket with the USB port I bought on eBay. Most panels you will find will be 2 open spots for switches and 1 blank spot. Im not sure how it would fit under the dash. You might want to check these switch plates out on eBay though.

Any '97 and up that came with factory fog lights will have that panel. Check out wizardpc on this forum or his site. He makes all sorts of panels that will work in '97 and up XJ's.

Edit: Just found this on Ebay.

Ran her through the $6 automatic wash bay. Dried her off and detailed her quick with some spray wax. All nice and shiny now. Till the next time I take it out. LOL.

Doesn't run any better, just a lot louder and sounds faster now. Stumbles and backfires a good bit. It's terrible. I'm not sure what it could be, but I'm tired of this crap.

Had a spare 15 minutes so I changed out my rear bump stops. Not that I think they'll really make a difference on an XJ with a 3" lift and 31" tires. I was just tired of seeing the old ones when I went crawling around underneath.
