What did you do to your Cherokee today?
I spent all day riding around in what ended up being a foot of snow and ice which is a rare thing for this part of the world. I was wondering how my maxxis bighorns would do in the white stuff. The answer was freaking awesome. I did every thing from from 10 miles of 6% downhill grade on open highway to uphill off road and they never stopped grabbing. I started out in 4wd just to be safe but after a few miles I switched to 2wd for most of the day. Only needed 4 HI when it started to get real deep at the end of the day. Most fun Ive had in a while.
Fixing to go out with a couple of friends in their wranglers for a trek over the mountain close to 4k feet on a logging road. I hear they have gotten closer to 2 feet at that elevation. So far more than pleased with the old Jeep.

Pulled out a Ford Windstar, no money just a good deed. I guess.
29" of snow here in Baltimore, MD. Glad I finished my lift last weekend.

Singlehandedly installed the majority of my Rusty's 3" Advanced kit today. Painful process, crawling around underneath that thing all day, up and down, up and down. By the time I was done I looked like I was coal mining for 10 hrs. Still need to install the track bar and sway bar disconnects. I like the lift, drove it home easily. Barely perceptible pull to the right. I'll torque it all up tomorrow, give it a few days and get an alignment done.

Loaded up a pair of dead compressors into the back of it. Today I am heading off to my brother's to strip them down for the tanks. One compressor, 4 Gal. twin small tanks, blew the connecting arm, but it was old and free. The other, single 8 Gal tank, shattered the reed valve and I can not find a replacement. No I am not doing an on board air system, I am going to use the tanks to make a small rocket stove mass heater for the ice fishing shack. Neither compressor had enough CFM to power any of my air tools for more than a few seconds any how.
If I ever do on board air I have a 10 gallon air pig that I will put in the back with a quick disconnect so I can take it out if needed. I am going to save the regulators and such from the dead compressors so I have them if/when needed.
As we all know when I do need the parts they will be nowhere to be found till I get home from buying new ones

Couldn't take the YJ out for fun cause I still haven't replaced the transmission, but I did pull it out of the parking spot over the snow drift cause I wanted to **** off the neighbors who were stuck.
We took the WJ out instead and had some fun. Still in a state of emergency, so there was very little traffic and a lot of empty parking lots.

^^ moved mine from the dirt patch it usually sits in to the empty neighbor's driveway, had to climb over the berms from the snow plow that came down the street. Ready for work tomorrow (lol)

Installed a passenger seat, rear seat piece from a junk yard. Mine were torn badly. Also installed a driver's side front fender, new headlights and a new master switch. Installed LED bulbs in the interior and a new glove box handle.

Used the XJ to pound down more snow in the driveway to free up the wife's car. No issues popping out of 4WD this time, and I didn't shift modes. Since my normal daily driver is still buried under a couple of feet of snow, and is fenced in by higher piles left by Mr. Plow, I'll be using the XJ on a daily basis for a while. We'll see how it goes shifting the 231 in and out of 4WD as needed on the road. Based on my experience yesterday I may need to adjust the transfer case linkage.
Overall I'm pretty impressed with the performance of this thing in deep snow, and that's with stock height, open differentials, and ordinary street tires. More properly equipped for severe conditions an XJ would probably be near unstoppable when operated with an appreciation for the laws of physics.

Dug out my Kia, but it will be covered again if a plow ever comes down my street. Took the jeep and drove over 3 feet of snow for about 50 feet in order to have it "dug out" for work tomorrow.
