I got some super 77 and the material is 52" across. Walmart was by far the cheapest at only $3.98 a yard. I saw they had actual headliner with foam attached at Joann Fabrics. Did you guys just attach the fabric right to the headliner with no foam in between? thanks

I didn't use any foam and I haven't heard of anyone else doing it either. As long as you get good glue it'll be fine without it.

The foam backing prevents the spray on adhesive from seeping thru and looking like crap. Just spend the extra few bucks on the Joann fabric if you want it to look good. If you dig around online you can find a coupon for 50% off which makes it only $7.50 a yard.

Thanks for tips. So I just glued on the front 1/2, i am going to do the back 1/2 tomorrow. I have a 2001, my question is do I have to make relief cuts around the sound bar area? It doesn't look the material will conform to all the different curves at once....

I didn't make cuts around the rear speakers for mine but then again one side is pulled up a little right at the speaker. Not noticeable. Not sure
I would risk cutting it if I were you. Just make sure you leave enough room before you apply the adhesive.

Sorry to bring up an older thread again, but I was wondering if anyone has any idea where to get the headliner board? I bought my xj without a headliner at all, at least its not sagging right? LOL

It is the Laredo and has all the plugs for the overhead console, compass, temp etc and I would love to get all that stuff too. I am going to try to go to a jy this weekend.

Thanks

dude no worries at all I'm really glad you did, and even happier to see someone else use the search fu...

I'm part of a barter group and had a bid today for $250 trade services and $50 cash to have mine redone..

sounds like a lot but you have to keep in mind I paint her trim outside the shop and she does my headliner.. :D

still may have a go at it myself if I have the time, so there is one piece that comes out like cardboard right??

do you install the headliner out of the car onto the board then reinstall??

thanks

I also did my overhead console when I did the headliner. If i was you, I would pull the sound bar down and redo it to match your headliner.
