some xjs came with a factory amp under there

no fan and no idea what its other than its an infinity and has the Chrysler name and logo on it.

15 years old and a ton of miles blasting music on it, still works. no heavy gauge wiring going to it though so it can't be too intense.

I searched google and found an alpine amp with similar dimensions as this one that I want to put in. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_236TH90...x_904&skipvs=T

Anyone know if this amp runs to hot to be put under the seat?

I have a little 4 channel 400watt under my seat. No fan. And drive to and from college several times a year @ 4hours. And it over heated once on the trip about 3 and a half hours in, when it was like 97 degrees outside. Other than that for regular driving in heat or cool weather it's fine under the seat without a fan.

I have a 1100W Sub amp (no name) under my seat with no problems, but I don't run it hard.

Under the rear seat on the passengers side?

I've got a Rockford Fosgate amp for my sub under the drivers side rear seat and just ordered a fan and relay for it for extra insurance against overheating. For fresh air under the seat, there's a pre-cut hole behind the carpet on the rear seat support on the drivers side by the door (on my 2000 anyway). I just cut out the carpet to reveal the hole in the steel support and plan on installing my fan by it when it arrives.

Link to the amp for sub: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...e-R500-1D.html

Edit: Amp Dimensions: 7-2/3"L x 7-2/3"W x 2-1/2"H with lots of room left over (carpet and pad removed under amp)

I've got a little Pioneer amp under the rear seat, driver side which hasn't over heated in the couple years I've been using it.

for what its worth the factory amp is under the seat on the drivers side.

i would imagine it runs cooler there being further away from the exhaust.
