what all needs to be done to fit 33's
 

like title says what all needs to be done to fir 33's under my 2 door xj?
it has a 3in rough country suspension lift on it now and the 33's rub
can i get like the skyjacker 2.5 leaf spring blocks for the rear and the 1.75 coil spacers for the front and it will work??
any help would be appreciated as i am new to this and still learning the ropes oh and the front fenders have already been trimmed allot so that not an issue there

BLOCKS are a NO! :ban:
get a 2" budget boost (coil spacers/ shackles) or limit your up travel with bumpstops. dunno what year your XJ is but when going over 3.5" in lift you need a transfer case drop/shims or an SYE and CV driveshaft to correct driveline angles/vibrations so adding more lift might cause more problems....

If your up to it you could trim the fenders. On here there is a pic of a gut with 37's on a 1.5 inch lift, but it is trimmed a lot. Heres the pic.

wheel spacers, the tires are probably rubbing on your lower control arms...

that was the other option i was going to do
the xj is a 84 just wanna be able to fit the 33's with out shredding them
any suggestions on manufacturers to go with?

in my opinion that looks like crap lol but each to there own
the tires are not rubbing on the outer fender that is already trimmed it rubbing on the inside of the fender maybe wheels spacers to move the tire out some?

trimming and alot more trimming
i have a 3 inch and i just trimmed where the tires rubbed and then trimmed more to make it look cleaner
also look into like some coil spacers and shakles

I have a 95 2 door with 3" RC lift. I have 33's and trimmed the fenders at the line where the flares came off. It rubs a little on the LCA's, but not too bad. When I went wheeling and stuffed the tires the fenders got a little wrinkled, but I need longer bump stops. Good luck

thats exactly what i have!! 95 2door 3 inch on 33s trimmed at the line of the flares on the rear and about half an inch higher then the line up front
only rubs at full turn on the LCA's

whatever is cheapest.

check terraflex in the scratch and dent section for the yj or something spacers. they fit grand cherokee and cherokees also. i got mine to 2 bucks a spacer and then bought some shackles from rough country for the back

Lifting it more will in no way stop rubbing. If it rubs on your fender you need longer bumpstops or trim a little bit, if its rubs on the LCA while turning you need less backspacing on your wheels.


I have 33's on a 2.5-3 inch lift and its the best setup you could hope for if you actually bumpstop it and trim. Mine only rubs a hair when I stuff a tire, and thats because I set it up that way. And it looks normal too.

Its not rubbing at all, it has a d44 front and a d60 rear swapped in. Look closer, you can see how much room is in between the fender well and the inside of the tire. You can get a lot of flex with a set up like that too.

if you use wheel spacers you need to constantly check your lug nuts, and also use lock tite on the lugs, or you will lose a tire. I keep telling my buddy to get rid of the spacers, but he wont listen to me, he has also lost a wheel 2 times now, and still continues to run the spacers...
