So yall wash your jeep every now and again after you wheel, im the kinda guy to take forever to wash my vehicles usually i can do it at home but my dads not so cool with thick clumps of clay in the driveway. so i gotta go to the car wash and that aint cheap. i can clean the paint and rims and tires make it all look good but any suggestions on really cleaning that undercarriage and in my bumper caps and all that work.

Mud is corrosive, ultimately.. So yea, on the reg I try to keep a lot of the build up off the thing. I really hate "test dirt" (the swag you pick up from dirty pavement and dirt roads) but "trail dirt" is different. Def a badge of honor getting it REAL dirty.. Till ya wash it... But that just means ya get to try again!
There nothin special about cleaning an XJ. Especially if it's lifted, makes it real easy to spray underneath.

Buy some ramps and you can get the whole undercarriage pretty good.

I like to keep the dirt on the body every so often, but i keep my undercarrage pretty clean. Helps save bushings and such.

go easy with that pressure washer, you can and will do unseen damage, maybe not catastophic at 1st but why at all?--gentle thorough clean is the way to go!

In the past I've just placed a sprinkler under the chassis, turned it on and came back an hour later and hosed the "softened" mud away.

I bought a $100 pressure washer, Works fine on my stock cherokee with big tires. I would suggest washing down the mud, its no good for your rig to sit there. If you spray under your rig, It would be a good idea to grease up your upper / lower ball joints, tie rods, control arms ect...

Just make sure to keep stuff greased, and personally I don't point hp spray wands at any seals if I can help it...

What I do is go to the $1.50 spray and wash an spend a solid $3 in quarters to get most of the chunky stuff off (on top and underneath) then go home and throw the sprinkler under it for a little then do the regular car wash to get it shiny and to get the rest of the mud out from under it. Takes about 2 hours.
