What exactly getting swapped just the carrier ? Or carrier plus ring and pinion ?

Just carrier. The Volvo ring is massive compared to a Dana one, but the bolt pattern is the same.

Just bolt one on and gear it like anything else.

so can you use a master install kit for a d30 with this? also if you find one with 3.73 gears swapping 4.10 shouldn't be a issue?

o year and setting ring and pinion should be a issue do it as normal I'm taking it?

Correct, I used a G2 Master install kit. 3.73 to 4.10 should not be an issue.

Ok I just want to be clear....
While in 2wd is the lsd non existent?
Can I DD my xj and not worry about my front tires locking?
Just want to clarify things...sorry for the crazy/insane question...thanks in advance

It should be just the same as any other D30 limited and not be affected while in 2wd. Most automatic lsd/lockers only engage when in 4wd because they are receiving power from the transfer case.

Just wanted to come back and confirm that the 940 Volvo is confirmed that works on the front Dana 30...it's currently in my Comanche and it's invisble in 2wd and works in 4wd...

Seems as if the automatics had the 3.73 and up carriers and the manuals had the 3.55 and down carriers

Ill be jumping into this install this saturday. Gonna be powering 38 inch tires. So it will be tested to its strength.
