Default VIN info needed, 7/13/92 build date on a 93

My 93 2 door 4cyl 5 speed has a build date of 7/13/92. I got my build sheet today, and the guy at the counter was surprised that the build date was in July.

The MDH on my door sticker says 071312 142. 7/13/92 at 12pm, but what does the 142 mean? 142nd?

Does anyone happen to know what the first day of production for the 93 model year was? 7/13/92 was a Monday.

I'm not sure if contacting Chrysler would be helpful.
The last #'s of my vin are 503539.

It is not uncommon to have a build date for a 93 in late 92. Car manufacturers send out the New model year usually in August or September. If you go to car dealers in Sussex you will already see the 2017 models on the lot. I think that the build date on my 98 might be in late 97 I have to go look again. The guy at the dealer should have knowledge of this.

July 13th though? I'd love to know when they started.

My guess would be the 142nd unit built that day.

The production of '93 ZJ's began in April of 1992, but the very first ZJ (a Poppy Red 1993 Laredo 4.0L 4X4) rolled off the line in January of 1992. IDK what it means that it's "uncommon to have a build date for early 1993 models in 1992", and I have no idea what the '142' means after the 'MDH' code on your door tag. None of my Jeeps have/have had it. Maybe it's a plant code? Or the employee who printed out the door tag and stuck it onto the door? I really would have no idea other than to email Chrysler/Jeep and ask them.

As far as the build sheet, plug it into here: http://www.jeep.com/webselfservice/jeep/index.html

That still won't give you a build date (and some of the 1993's will say 'No Equipment Found!' under 'Standard Equipment' and 'Optional Equipment' that were early builds), however.

I don't know about jeeps,But ford retools mid july for the next years car.So if its the same or close for jeep you have one of the later made 93s.Unless we find someone that works the jeep plants or from jeep we'd never know their retool date.

I had a '94 ZJ dated 08/21/1993, built at 11:00 PM, I figure the switched around that time.

My '02 WJ is dated 06/05/2002, built at 6:00 AM, probably one of the last '02s to come off the line, as the '03s started VERY early, and only ran until late '02, when they switched to the '04s, which only ran until April of '04 when they closed the plant to retool it for the all-new '05 WK's. That's also when the LAST WJ rolled off the line.

They always ran 24hr shifts at JNAP (Jefferson North Assembly) because the GC's were very popular, and I think they still do to this day, because they're still as popular as they used to be.
