What is the best way to accomplish this. Had a friend get their truck stuck and figured I could of used the XJ to help. With a terrible winter on the way what is the best way to use the XJ to pull out other cars? Its all stock minus 30" tires.

Well, there's the ****** and tug method, where you leave some slack in the ****** strap (USE THE RIGHT STRAP) and yank on the stuck vehicle...

...or you can put extra faith in your traction and try to drag out the stuck vehicle that way.

In any case, make sure you're using the correct straps and solid recovery points, no flimsily installed hooks or sheet metal is going to stand up to that kind of force.

Don't use chains unless you have a particular dislike for windshields/bystanders.

Is there any points on a stock XJ to use, or would I need to install hooks?

Unless you have recovery points dont do it. You will bend your axle housing or destroy other things by doing that. The method in which you pull will be determined by the circumstances. I usually never do the shock load with the strap. its ok with a ****** strap but I just prefer to have equal steady force pull the vehicle free, atleast in snow anyways.. the comon reason for the snow to jam someone up isnt because of a loss of traction rather a loss in clearance. The vehicle commonly is highcentered in snow which it takes minimum force to dislodge the vehicle. Mud and rocks are a different animal though.

On the rear you can use your reciever and slip the loop end of the right strap into it and use your hitch pin to hold it and it will work better than a standard hook as it will not fall off. and the pin is trong enough to hold. Use the right pin for the hitch not just a bolt or whatever may fit tho.

Everyone knows the pull out method doesn't, unless you have the right gear
