unibody frame
ive seen tube strengtheners advertised but i was wondeing if anyone ever tried running new steel the complete length of the tubes making it a heavier frame

Yeah, you can buy front stiffners (steering box etc get reinforced) mid body stiffners (most common) and rear stiffners (along with sill plate reinforcement aka nutstrips).
All available off the shelf from a few different places. The mid body stiffners are made by a TON of companies and each have their own benefits and drawbacks.

Yes people have done things like that, but it is just not really necessary to do more than the typical stiffeners, unless you are running monster tires and going to wail on it. Check out pirate for some builds along those lines: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=83
