So,
Why is the Cherokee made with a unibody and not a frame? If the unibody is a better design, What are the advantages?

it was back when jeep wanted to make a mid sized SUV as light as possible due to the whole sports car era
from what i remember reading you get the strength body with light weight that easy to produce.
Lighter weight meant more power from a smaller motor (4.0.. small yeah right)
but you also had strength. Ever seen one in a crash like a T-bone crash. yeah it survives rather well
