Right now Im building off my 2 door xj, my 89 4 door xj, and my buddy and fellow fabricator in the shops 98 zj. Ill soon be doing wj stuff also. Right now we dont have alot going on just trying to get started and get the shop together we are working out of a 1 car garage but will soon be expanding hopefully. So please help me spread the word i have a face book page up and running just been up since yesterday so not to many likes but if you could go check it out. https://www.facebook.com/HardTimesOffRoad
thanks for your support |
First step.. become a vender
second step.. you don't run a fab shop, you run a customer service center specializing in fabrication. As long as you remember that and bring skill to the table you will be successful. |
Some advice.
1. Get a good logo. 2. Take great pictures of your work mounted an in place on vehicles 3. Do quality work. And listen to Bill Cosby. "I don't know the secret to success but I know the secret to failure is trying to please everybody" Good luck! |
thanks for the advice man im planning on becoming a vender as soon as i get up a going good dont have alot to offer right now mainly looking for input like yours. and what people are looking for im not a big fancy shop with all the big tools but me and my partner have the skills to make very good quaility parts for a realy good price. I know the price of wheeling and have allways had to do it on a budget. I want to be able to offer the higher end stuff people are looking for with a price to fit anyones budget.

Wiggles has the best advice you could get. If you have excellent customer service, have the skills, and are capable of open, honest communication, you will do great. Don't rely too heavily on modern conveniences of text and email....while they are nice tools, nothing beats a verbal conversation on the old talkbox. Plus it adds a bit of a personal touch, a simple phone call can work magic. |

Understood...play around with it some, find what you like...I like the skull and crosswrenches, simple but memorable.

You should make cheap rear tire carrier bumpers. I bet a lot of people would be interested in those. Is it possible to even do that? Haha. Overall I think you won't have trouble being successful like other said as long a you can get the word out. Lots of pictures of your work on vehicles. That's what I look for a lot good luck man. I'll go like it on Facebook.

Start a build thread. You can showcase your fab skills in it.
