Thoughts on $20K 1988 XJ Ltd.

55,000 miles, looks very nice. What about $19995.00? Given it's at a dealer, I'm guessing they might be a little room to negotiate. What would you pay?

To me, the undercarriage doesn't match the top-side, especially the calipers, but maybe that's because it's an eastern car and I'm in the dry part of California.

Ridiculous. 5k tops. Heck even that's a pretty sizable gamble. You have to have it shipped? Nah dude pass

I don't know much about Cherokees, but that price sounds absolutely insane. The oldest model available for pricing on KBB is 1992 which would go for a little over 4,000 in excellent with all options. Is there something special about a 1988 that would make it cost nearly five times that much?

Insanity! Obviously these guys don't know what rust is, the underside of that thing is rusty as hell. You can still buy extremely low mileage XJ's around here with absolutely no rust for less than 10k.

They should have stopped taking pictures after the interior, even some of the engine bay has some rust in it.

Yeah I Just saw that. I was only able to see one picture the first time. That is ridiculous but I'm sure some crazy person will buy it

Do they know how much they went for new in 1988?

Ender 09-17-2016 04:14 PM

Once you get to the pictures of what lies beneath the perfect looking shell... oh my that thing needs a lot of work...

pvsprme 09-17-2016 06:37 PM

Is the rusty oil pan typical to XJ's? I've seen very clean undercarriages with paint peeling off the pan and rust beginning.

Your not seriously considering this are you?

BlueRidgeMark 09-17-2016 07:37 PM

Interesting. You guys are talking about pictures of the interior, undercarriage, and engine compartment. I don't see any of those pictures. Just exterior shots.

Maybe they decided to delete those?

chipmaker 09-17-2016 07:41 PM

Look in item description on the listing there are like 100 pics.

No, have an 89 with 10K less miles.

Hommersimpson 09-17-2016 09:13 PM

20k = ls motor.. long-arm lift 2 sets of tires.. one for road one for off road.. nice spares for both. body armor.. nice paint axle upgrades ... etc... with few thousand left to buy a clean jeep to build .. IMHO.. look at the Cherokees that sold on ebay.. one went for 23k another for 17k.. all lifted..
