Thinking about selling jeep, what price would you expect to pay

I just bought a new chevy silverado in place of the jeep (sad i know) b/c i needed a vehicle that can get my 5 and half hours to and from college goin 75mph SAFELY. Iv been lookin online at examples of 99' jeeps with around 147 thousand miles and iv seen anywhere from 2800 to 5700. Mine's a 99 4 in lift 31in tires with less than 700 miles on them. A tad bit of rust Iv got some decently expensive aftermarket upgrades to it. From the little information given how much should i start it at?(ballpark estimate)

Wow, 2 months ago I would have come and bought this from you. I bought my 2000 with 96k miles, excellent condition, no rust, but bone stock for $4200. I'd say $4k is a good starting point.

go with 4800 firm... try to market it as a show truck to a kid with rich parents.. :) (from a marketing standpoint.. higher price = perceived value in the byers mind.. )

I always think of it as what it is worth stock and what it would cost to upgrade it to where you have it now, then give someone a break, then you have something to go buy and bargain with.
Nice jeep

$4500 would be high end for your market area. You have limited your resale market to someone that wants a lifted Xj and most people in that group are not going to pay top dollar for something used and abused.

Price it for more then what you want and negotiate down to what you would take for it.

Phil99 Dec 2, 2009 12:09 AM

Yeah i see your point on limiting my target market but i certainly havent beat on it by any means but of course every person selling a used vehicle would say the same things... So maybe start it around 4600 4700 ish and then of course people will negotiate so maybe sell for around 4200 4300 or 4400 does that sounds right? I dont want to sell it for less than 4200 because of the incredible amount of money i put into it but once again, i guess a lot of sellers will say the same thing. It will be interesting i will let yall know how it goes when i sell it eventually thanks for the help
