so im looking at buying another xj i have been looking around and i found this one tell me what you think

looks pretty good....i'll give u my thoughts
4.11 gearing seems too tall of gearing for 35s.....it needs 4.56 or 4.88s the chrysler 8.25 in 95 was a 27 spline i believe, which doesnt seem strong enough for 35s the fenders arent trimmed.....something else you would want to do its got CA drop brackets, not as good as long arms but you could always upgrade to them. the front ARB locker is great, putting another one in the rear would make it even better |
I can vouch for that Rusty's steering set up. It's nice. The gears though. I think they mean 4.10 for the gearing. And yes for 35's you'd be better off with 4.56 or 4.88. Seens really nice. Can't beat the price.
The front axle is a D30 I think. Take a big enough hit with that and its a goner. Nice base line to start with and fix as you go. I also have those same tires. They are wicked. I say get it. |

Depends on weather or not you want to fix what you bought for 4500.00 or keep looking for something you can invest 4500.00 in it and know exactly what you have. I bought my 96 with 140,000 on it and everything works from cruise control to cold air conditioning for 1500.00 Just required a simple tune up and a valve cover gasket. Everything else was invested such as lift, tires and wheels. But the ultimate decision would be yours.

seems like a great deal! i say get it if ur okay with dumping more money into it to do it right. here's what i would do:
re-gear to 4.88 gears, while the front d30 is apart get some nice alloy shafts to hold up to 35s and maybe truss it. find a chrysler 8.25 out of of 97-01 XJ for the 29 spline axles, get an arb air locker for it (since its already got the compressor for the front locker, might as well make full use of it) and 4.88 gears and upgraded shafts if you want. cut the fenders to accommodate the 35s and when you get tired of short arms you could always upgrade to long arms later down the road. just my 2 cents |
Must have sold already.
