is this possible do to on '94 ZJ? I love the idea of a sunroof (just with one of the do it yourself popup sunroofs) but my jeep has ridges in the roof and I wasn't sure if that would cause a problem along the way

I've got a sunroof (from factory) on my 99. No leaks, seems installed well. Has the little drain tubes running down into the door sills.
As far as installed one yourself, I'd look for one at the JY, and cut it out. Then weld it into your roof. I'd go for a newer one though. It seems like its the older ones that everyone says leak.
I know there also a company that makes sliding canvas tops, relativley cheap, and look awesome.
Edit:
Here it is

Don't do it! They are more trouble than they're worth. I have one on my ZJ and I hate it. Wind noise and loss of headroom are my main complaints.

Not worth the trouble, I put one in my old xj and was always a chore to keep that thing from leaking. The drains were always overwhelmed during heavy rains
