Stereo questions?

I recently bought a 2000 Grand Cherokee Limited Edition with all the bells and whistles and the stereo takes CDs & tapes........ can someone tell me why the CD player will place shop bought CDs perfectly but won't play home burned CDs and is there anything I can do to change that please?

Also, on the stereo controls on the underside of the steering wheel, what is the centre control on the left hand rocker switch meant to do please?

Oh and while I'm at it, the sales guy told me the car has heated front seats......... is that normal and if so, where the heck are the controls for them please?

Heated seat control should be on the center console somewhere.

The format you're making your CD's in is wrong. No stock CD players made in the era of our jeeps were capable of playing MP3/MP4/data/etc. format songs. Try making your next CD in audio format (you're asked when you burn the CD what format you want to burn the songs on in). The average number of songs on an audio format CD is limited to around 20 or so. So be prepared for that. The only way to play data/mp3 cd's in your jeep is to get a new head unit that is capable of reading those formats (which most all aftermarket head units do these days).

OK thanks...... I rather suspected it might be format related & I'll experiment a bit.

I'll also check the centre console for extra switches. :)

Also i notice your profile says you have a 1982 cherokee? Is your jeep a full size jeep or an xj?

I've got a 1982 Cherokee Laredo FSJ (pic below) that I've owned for about 10 years & have also just bought a 2000 Grand Cherokee LE diesel as well.

I rather like Jeeps. LOL

Oh & I'll amend my profile right now. :)

Thanks. I love her to bits..... I bought her about 10 years ago in South Africa when I lived there & shipped her to Portugal when I emigrated here 18 months ago. :)

Lovely! My son in law was born/raised South Africa, I'll ask him to hold the T-shirt and bring one back on his next vacation.

The V8 engined version is rare in RSA but generally, LHD classics there are very cheap. If I'd sold my Jeep there, I'd have been lucky to get the equivalent of E4K........ Here in Portugal, I've already turned down 2 offers of E25K.

As much as my wife would have me accept the offers, my truck just ain't for sale at any price!
