Speedo Gear O-ring Problem
Yesterday I noticed a red liquid dripping from my transfer case from the area where my Speedometer gear goes. I pulled it out to find a broken o-ring. A friend and I put a new o-ring on and I woke up this morning only to find more fluid dripping.
Is this a common problem and does anyone know a fix?

I'm not sure if he lubed it up, maybe just kind of dabbed it with some of the ATF dripping from the transfer case and rubbed it on there.
The o-ring may or may not be the correct size, but it came out above the plastic a very good deal and would create what I thought to be air-tight. I found the leak at around 1 AM when I noticed a shiny substance on the ground from the garage light, so no stores were even open to look for the right size o-ring. I suppose that will be my project today.

It appears the ATF stopped leaking on its own. I didn't lose all of it because I checked the dip-stick and everything looks good. I'm wondering if maybe the leaking I saw after replacing it a second time was just the finger fluid I used to lubricate the o-ring. It's pretty much bone dry now. If this stays like this, I might get to finally save a little money
