Default Vinyl decal design/cutting

Anyone on here designing and cutting out their own decals?

I have long just leaned into various local people to get my ideas or designs into a vinyl sticker/decal for the vehicles but I have come to the conclusion that maybe I should just be doing this myself. I love design as it is so why short myself on trying something new and combine the 2 things?

I'm considering a Cricut if anyone has any helpful input I'm all ears

learn how to use inkscape, I'm kinda in the same boat, I just bought a cnc plasma table and am learning not only the software for that, but also using inkscape and fusion360 for designing...depending on what you're doing svg and dxf files are needed. There's lots of people selling cookie cutter files, and that's cool and all, but if you want to make custom creations you really need to use a good vector imaging program.

I've used Inkscape to create graphics for our track cars and imported into the Cricut software to generate vinyl cuts to go on sheet magnets.

Works well.

I have definitely gotten by with etsy on a couple things but there is still that want to make my own ideas come to light.

Ive considered the arcdroid plasma cutter but there it was an investment vs outcome scenario. As much as id love to do soo many custom things, the time isnt there for me to do it. I don't exactly build custom things every month or even yearly, again just getting by leaning into a few others that have the means to justify them.

I appreciate the responses on personal experience and software in regards to the design aspect. Well see where I land with impulse in another week or soo on committing to a cricut or etc
