Default Should I by an 85 Cherokee

I found a 4x4 1985 Cherokee with a non running 2.8 that I might be able to get for 350. Is it worth it. How much should I look on spending on it if I get it?

So should I get it or not what do you think. Is it going to eat up my money if I get it.

x2 on that.
Besides, if it doesn't run, you can't test drive it. If you can't test drive it, you won't know what else is wrong with it (unless you would be buying it from a friend or relative...hopefully they would be honest with you).

well, if it's a 5 speed it most likely has 4.10 gears in it, which is a plus.

Is it clean? No rust? If it is then buy it. Jam whatever the heck motor you want in it and enjoy. A Cummins from a Dodge truck gets my vote!

If it is rusty then pass.

I guess I might just have to look at it. Its a two door on c-list I thought it would make a nice trail machine.

Rust is the deciding factor IMHO. It's only $350. I personally wouldn't give a crap otherwise. Rust = pass. no rust = buy I would love to have a $350 rust free 2 door. I would guess it's a rusty POS though.

You can get most of a 4.0 drive train for about $500 at a pick a part or just buy a welder and put whatever you want in it.

Will your state let you get a salvage title with a bill of sale?
