Default serpentine belt removal

Im changing my tstat and need to loosen the belt...on most the tensioner is below the power steering...on mine it appears above the alternator, if you look at the attached thats it where my screwdriver is pointing (tensioner)

From your picture, it appears to me that belt tensioning and releasing is accomplished via the bolts of the alternator bracket (at bracket top and outer end). The pulley you are indicating with your screwdriver seems to be that where the A/C would be if you had one - my A/C is located above alternator. Why is yours so different? Is your Jeep a 4 cylinder and/or right hand drive? Generously loosen the top alternator bolt then loosen the bolt on the end of the bracket until the belt slackens (it may require a few love-taps along the way before you get a reasonable amount of belt play). Make sure you clean the T-stat gasket surfaces very well, carefully center the T-stat in the cup and also use caution in tightening the T-stat housing bolts upon restoring the assembly (cracking the housing is a common foible). Good luck.

Thanks Cherryokee, i had another look and what your saying is making sense. Its a right hand drive 4.0. Why is mine different? The belt routing is backwards to..my ac is on the bottom?

Yours is different because it's a right hand drive vehicle.
Accessories are rearranged to accommodate the steering shaft and box.
You're welcome. Good luck.

Yah. I'm jealous of your top side alt bracket tensioner. I hate friggin' with the belt tensioner in my LHD 4.0. I can barely get a wrench on the pulley bolt because of the tight clearance to the back side of the e-fan.

And another thing that bugs me is this damned counter-clockwise flushing. I want my crap to go clockwise!
