Serpentine belt question
I have a '94 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with a crapped out A/C Compressor. has almost 190,000 miles and dont want to spend $1200 to fix it. Have been told that I can bypass the compressor by changing serpentine belt to Jeep belt for '94 Grand Cherokee made without A/C. Anyone ever done this? I found a belt at local parts store for '94 without A/C, but was curious if it'll work. Thanks!!

why not get the right belt and use your non working a/c compressor as an on board air compressor.
with a few cheap parts, you can do this quite easily.

you don't need to remove the compressor. just unplug the clutch and it will act as a idler pulley until you decide to fix it or convert to on-board air.

Some of the parts manufaturers offer "idler" pullies to replace the compressors when they lock up. I use Gates brand & have found them for other vehicles, I dunno if they make one for your application or not. Check it out.
