Rugged Ridge floor mat issue!!

While replacing my tranny mount today, I noticed water seeping out of the front floor board. I pulled up the floor mats I bought maybe a year ago to find everything soaked and pieces of rusty metal in the carpet. It turns out the metal was the fastener holding the oval "rugged ridge" emblem on and had totally disintegrated allowing water under the mat. With the mat in place, the water can't evaporate. I pulled the emblems, applied a ton of black RTV under them, and on the back side. If you have these or maybe the Quadratec version, check them! Note the water droplets under the tray in attached image.

This is what I found under my floorboard with moisture weeping out of it on a perfectly dry day.

Well that's not good. That rot is just going to get worse and spread. You're in for some fun if you plan on keeping it

You might need to cut out that section and weld a new piece of sheet metal in there to stop it from spreading.

Those things are out, windows were down for a few hours, and the carpet is still drying out. With the RTV in place, I can fill the mats with water now, and no leaking underneath. Still, they could of spent of few more more pennies on stainless fasteners and some basic gaskets considering these things are "patent pending" and superior to the competition's design.

You're still going to have to cut out the rot and weld in some sheet metal. I'd just leave the carpet out until I got it fixed...RTV isn't going to stop it from spreading.
