removeable top???
so what would be involved in a removeable top? you know the K5 or Bronco lift offs. i'm assuming it starts with a decent chop and some modding the removed portion to be able to be latched/screwed/fastened in some way back on. anyone every done this? great in the Summer Time but pops back on in the winter.

wrong section. moved to chat.

I've never seen one that was able to be put back on after it was chopped. It would be neat. Have you tried Google image searches for removable top xj?

This may be a little hardcore than you want but you might like this link...

That's the link I was thinking of.

I'm highly considering doing this later this year, around winter. My plan is to install an inner roll cage, and work with the top to either make it removable, or perhaps an easier to remove hardtop. Similar to the Pirate4x4 link posted.

You ever think of doing a soft top instead of a hard?
|
I was looking at the 4x4 pirate link and that may be a little much, i was still thinking an inner roll cage for support but just make the top removable in the back cargo section. just behind the rear doors. that way modification is limited and there's no need to F with the doors. think like a 4 door K5 only smaller, better on gas, fits in tight spots,....

A boat tarp shop near me made me a frameless soft top for my cj7 awhile back. I had to draw the plans, but its waterproof canvas and I only paid like 275 for it. Maybe check in to that. If you do an inner cage, a frameless top would be sweet.
