Default is it really worth building a 2wd jeep?.... give me your opinion!!

alright well as you guys know if you read my build thread im no longer with my jeep... well my old jeep

but i found a stockiee on CL that i can get but it needs a little work.

battery, overflow tube for radiator, back passenger window, headliner, two front tires & a good cleaning

it also has 200k miles & its 2wd :/

but listen to this.. im trading my ps3 & tv that i dont even use that much anymore for it... pretty good deal right?

i think i might just go ahead and get it because of right now i have NO mode of transportation. beside my friends.. & it sucks.

if i do get it ill end up building it & putting $ into it. but its 2wd once again.

tell me what you guys think.
is it worth it ?
even if its 2wd?

Lock the rear, and you should be good for mild wheeling.

just do a 4wd swap... shouldnt be too bad, everything is bolt in.
Remove trans tailshaft, bolt in tcase, put shifter bezel in, swap in d30/driveshaft, and away you go.

Id do that all day long. for that deal, I say don't bother modding it, just use it as transportation. That'll give you time to find the "perfect rig". I traded ona my mountain bikes for a beat up 5 speed s10 that was the 4 month go between so that I could wait for that perfect deal and I'm happy I did! And btw, I haven't been on for a while. so this is first news of your old one and my mouth dropped for a minute or 2. I loved that thing so much and I have been basing my own investments towards a final product similar to yours because I loved it so much. Makes me sad :,( but anyways that's my .02

My xj is 2wd it probably shouldnt go places it does. I just welded up the rear end and put some 31x10.50s shaved the fenders and took off both the sway bars. The only thing i dont like about it is its just a four banger.

Do it then call me so we can go out

But really like you know, I've wheeled very successfuly In a 2wd even open diff. Don't convert it to 4wd it will cost ALOT more then you Wana put into it. why don't you do a JY lift, some front tow hooks and a lunch box locker. All of which can be done for well under $1,000 and you will still have a very callable offroad vehicle

Oh and tires but you can get some nicer used tires off of chuckstrucks, legion of jeepers, gearheadoffroad's, hardcore jeepers, or the many other off road clubs around your area. Or you could buy the tires i have for sale
