Default Quick Question

So i got some rims that are 15x10.50. Well i also have some tires that are 31x10.50 and i had auto mechanics at my school try to put them on today and they are saying the rims are too wide becuase the bead will not seat becuase the tire doesnt take up the whole rim, Well what i dont understand is that the tires that came off the rims orginally are 30x9.50s. So they should fit no problem right? This just doesnt make any sense to me.

they will be a lil narrow but they should fit. take a ratchet stap and tighten down in the center (what i mean by the is the center of the tread all the way around the outside of the tire) will bulge out the sides and will work. have to make sure you have the right pressure though to make a good flat contact area on the road or will wear on the out side of the tires.

You can do that with a 15-17 bicycle tube, inflate the tube and put it in the gap between the rim and the tire, then inflate the tire and when the beads are seated pull the tube.
There is also the flammable spray method, but i wouldn't do that if you have never done it.

Get the correct size rims for that size tire 15x7 or 15x8. If you take your vehicle offroad with that combination you are definitely looking for some flats on the trail. The rim is to wide to hold the bead on that tire properly and any pressure on the sidewali can cause the bead to pop. Can you make it work yes, should you do it NO.

Winston is correct, those wheels will look like watermelons and 90% you flat one on the trails... you could throw in 15' tubes though..

I have already learned the hard way about rims being to wide. I have 33x12.50x15s on 15x10 rims and popped the bead on both front tires the last time I was on the trail. Even a 12.5 wide tire should be on 15x8s to keep the bead seated.
