Default Question regarding late 90's early 2000's stock stereo

I have a 98 XJ that still has a working stock radio.... It has one problem that is driving me nuts and maybe someone can help.

It plays factory/professional cd's with no problem, BUT when I burn a cd it makes a grunting noise and says ERR.... When I got the Jeep the guy had left a burned cd in the player that mostly worked even with a million scratches.... I wasnt a real big fan of the music on it so I tossed it. Now I dont know what kind of CD it was.....

Anyone have this same stereo?:

and if so what brand cd and/or burning program is working for you?

Try a cd-r. It is only able to be burned onto once. All cds are written onto the same way, the different programs burn at different sound qualities.

I tried cd-r disks at all different burning speeds and qualities.

I know that some dvd's play in my player while others do not.... figured maybe cd's would be the same considering this guy who had the jeep before me made a playable one.

Usually it comes down to the software, and the format. Use something else to burn it, and make sure it is set to convert everything to wav prior to writing the disk. Don't use any burn simulation or disk verification.

I use Linux, so for me it is k3b all the way. Not sure if they have a Windows or Mac version, but you can take a peek and if they do i suggest trying it.

For a Windows user the three worst are (in no real order) Nero, Roxio, and WMP. There are many options out there. Even the Winamp burner is better then those three, though.

WMP is not something we like to say, so understandable LOL. I always loved the simplicity of Winamp, so i use Audacious on Linux

Mine is hit or miss with Cd's I burn. Some will work, some won't. Some will work once or twice and then never work again.

Might be different but my mother had a 2002 dodge grand caravan stereo and she wanted a mix cd. What I did was buy 52x 700mb 80minutes cd-r memorex or phillips and I used itunes to burn the music. Go ahead and try Itunes with it

Memorex is great. The only other one I buys is TDK. That goes for all disk types
