Potential new XJ owner

Hey guys,
Im looking for a 98+ XJ as my new DD. I won't be using it for off-road but just DD and kid hauler. I'm looking for a dependable, easy to work on and cheap parts SUV. This is The One that I really like for about this price. What do you guys think of the XJ as a DD, I've read to stay away from the 00 and 01 because of the head but i've also read that as long as the cooling system is maintained you won't have a problem. I've tried looking for a general what to look for thread for new XJ owners but I can't find it, can you guys give me the heads up?

nice that one will do it for ya. decent price decent miles
that one would make a good DD
what to look for.. just let the engine idle the whole time you are chatting with the owner.
listen for any ticks or obvious rattles coming from INSIDE the engine. a half hour should be enough time for anything obvious to reveal itself. test drive!
bad tranny/ obvious engine problems should be pretty easy to identify. watch the temp gauge
you never know tho. If you want quality assured, buy from a dealer.
that one is worth a look tho. good luck!

I ran the carfax and it comes back as a 2000 model year, but the owner says the title and the car itself say 1999. Other than that it looks good, only 4 previous owners.

should say the manufacter date on the driver door
it will say either 1999
or 1998 (but it was released in 1999) so either of those numbers are what you wanna see
if you check it out in person that is. go get it!

maybe you can talk em down to 3800 if you got 38 franklins with you... but looks clean. check everything first for that price it should be pretty damn nice. check the backside of the pinch seam where the rocker and floor board comes to gether for rust. sometimes it hides on you. and otherwize, check the door for the year. either way a year newer or older shouldnt stop you from snatching that up
